I am using WordPress to write my blog, and I have to say, I was shocked to see how easy it was. You can go to http://www.wordpress.com, and start right away – for free. They have templates which allow you to set up a website similar to mine. It’s an open-sourced software (Many contributors, providing free additions), so there are lots of free bells and whistles you can add.
As I have progressed online, I have added more, so I’ve changed to WordPress.org. It’s still WordPress, but a little different because it has to be hosted on another platform. I love http://bluehost.com for this purpose. They were very helpful in facilitating the change over. Good people.
I have worked with Bluehost for several years now, and I am really amazed at their customer service. (One New Year’s Day, I was finding a problem, and they were there to chat with me. In English, my language). One additional item in their favor: they refuse to allow Pornography or other adult items on their servers.
I have had several sources for learning about the blog.
A few years ago I took a course from Michael Stelzner and his cronies. It was called Social Media Success Seminar, and I am still digesting all to which I was exposed. The internet is such a fascinating place when you begin to delve into it. You can now get on his mailing list at http://socialmediaexaminer.com,
and you will be amazed at how much you can learn.
After understanding the need to market your info, I signed up with http://aweber.com for an “autoresponder.” The autoresponder allows you to set up a signup form for your blog, and when people sign up, they automatically receive a message. You can’t be online 24/7, so it’s important for new signees to be treated well.
That’s most of it so far. I’ll be suggesting other things as I go along, and I would love for you to also.
Blessings – and hope to hear about your blog soon.
