There is a great mystery involved when we make a covenant with the Creator of the Universe. He created us, yet He wants to make a covenant with us. Isn’t that amazing? He wants to make an agreement – a sort of contract- which will benefit both of us. This is the amazing part: He lets US decide how big the partnership will be.
God’s kingdom principle of sowing and reaping is a major teaching throughout the Bible.
Luke 6:38 Give and it shall be given unto you, good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, they shall pour into your lap. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return.Your “standard of measure” will determine your walk with the Lord. Because of your free will, YOU get to decide how much of God’s involvement you have in your life. Do you want a small amount of His involvement? That’s easy: just give Him a small amount of yourself. Do you want all that your Father has to offer? Give Him everything you have.
Abraham was a man who held back nothing, but gave his all to God. That paved the way for God to choose Abraham to be the father of the nation which would bring the savior, Jesus.
In this day, the Savior has come, but He is still looking for people who will fulfill His plan. He is looking for those who say, “Not my will, but Thine, oh Lord.” God desires people who want His will in their lives, knowing they can trust His plan and His goodness. These people want to live their lives according to His purpose, knowing that as they do, they will be able to help others to know their Father and His precious Son. The people who are willing to walk in that realm of faith and commitment make themselves available to see the miraculous hand of God in their own lives.
So what about you? How committed are you? Do you truly want God’s will in your life? Are you like Abraham and know that His will is only good and perfect? Do you understand that your Heavenly Father loves you more than you can imagine? Do you understand that He can and will do far more than you can ask or think when your heart is toward Him?
One way we can test ourselves about our commitment is to ask the question, “What do I do when I am alone? Do I have a heart that praises Him? Am I as dedicated to Him when no one is watching as I am when others are around?” Human nature makes us want to look good to others. We will show our best face in church or when we are around other Christians. The big question is, “What do we do when no one is watching?” That’s who we really are!
Today is a good day to answer these questions for yourself. Get quiet and talk to God. Pour out your heart to Him. Be yourself. Ask God to show you areas of your life that you are holding back. Is there lack of trust somewhere? He wants us to trust Him completely, since His love for us is so complete.
My prayer for you today is that you will come to a renewed understanding of the goodness of God. May you be aware of His presence and His love.
Believe it or not, we are learning to pray. As we walk this way everyday, we are building our faith and understanding which will compel us to a great prayer life.
